Vornia PLCL is synthesized from the monomers L-lactide and ε-caprolactone using green manufacturing processes. Vornia researchers tailor the chemical properties of this valuable copolymer and guarantee negligible solvent contamination of the final product.

PLCL is an emerging biodegradable copolymer which has been utilized in a number of medical devices, particularly in the areas of tissue engineering and scaffold formation. Due to the vastly different properties of PLA and PCL, careful selection of the copolymer ratios allows for tailored material properties. PLLA, despite its popularity, is often found to be too stiff for many biomedical applications. Incorporating caprolactone into PLLA reduces the Tg of the material and results in significantly increased flexibility. As a result, PLCL has found increasing popularity in applications where a high degree of elasticity is required. It is soluble in wide range of common solvents including chlorinated solvents, tetrahydrofuran and can be extruded or 3D printed to form scaffolds of various shapes and sizes.
